PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Town of Avon, with funding from the FHWA and administrative oversight from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), intends to proceed with a roadway improvement project. The project is located on Dan Jones Road, beginning 0.005 mile north of Oriole Point Drive and extending 1.24 miles north before ending 0.07 mile north of the intersection at Main Road in the town of Avon, Hendricks County, Indiana. The need for the project is evident based on ongoing growth in the area and resulting anticipated traffic volumes. The purpose of the project is to improve the roadway so it can accommodate future traffic volumes and operate at an acceptable level of service during the existing year and during the design year of 2043.

The current scope of work will include the reconstruction of Dan Jones Road from a 2-lane minor arterial to a 4-lane roadway. The roadway is anticipated to be widened to the east and west equally from the existing centerline. The typical roadway section for both Des. Nos. is anticipated to consist of four 12-foot-wide travel lanes (two in each direction), with a 15-foot-wide raised median, curb and gutter, 10-foot-wide multi-use path on the east side, and a 6-foot-wide sidewalk on the west side. The 15-foot-wide raised median would transition to a left turn lane as warranted at intersecting roadways. The sidewalk and multi-use path will be separated from the road by a 5-foot-wide grass buffer strip. The Des. No. 1901763 project also includes construction of a 2-lane roundabout at the intersection of Dan Jones Road and CR 150 South, as well as the replacement of Hendricks County Bridge 251 (NBI No. 3200251).
