The Town of Avon, with administrative oversite by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization, intends to proceed the local and state funded Dan Jones Road Reconstruction project (Des. No. 2202FFE) located in Avon, Hendricks County, Indiana. The proposed project limits begin at the intersection of Dan Jones Road and Rockville Road (US 36) and extend north approximately 1 mile before terminating at the intersection of East CR 100 North (West 10th Street) and Dan Jones Road. The proposed project area is located on the Brownsburg United States Geological Survey (USGS) 7.5 Minute Quadrangle Map in Sections 1 and 2, Township 15 North, Range 1 East. This section of Dan Jones Road is functionally classified as an Urban (suburban) Minor Arterial and has a posted speed limit of 40 miles per hour (mph).

The current proposed project will include the reconstruction of Dan Jones Road from a 2-lane Minor Arterial to a 4-lane roadway. The typical roadway section is anticipated to consist of four (4) 12-foot-wide travel lanes (two in each direction), with a 14-foot-wide raised median, curb and gutter, 10-foot multi-use path on the east side, and a 6-foot sidewalk on the west side. The 14-foot raised median would transition to a left-turn lane as warranted at intersecting roadways.

The sidewalk and multi-use path would be separated from the road by 5-foot-wide grass buffer strips. It is anticipated that the project will require approximately 2.5 acres of permanent and approximately 0.6 acre of temporary right-of-way. Tree clearing is anticipated along the project corridor. The maintenance-of-traffic plan for this project is phased construction that maintains a single lane of traffic in both directions during the construction timeline. Access will be maintained to all properties within the project corridor during construction.
