SR 42 Small Structure Improvement

DES. NO. 1601019

Near Poland, Clay and Owen Counties, Indiana

PROJECT SPONSOR

Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) - Crawfordsville District

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project proposes to remove and replace the existing culvert with a new reinforced concrete box culvert with wingwalls. Following the replacement of the culvert, a full-depth, hot-mix asphalt (HMA) overlay will be applied to the SR 42 travel lanes and shoulders. The roadway will maintain a typical roadway section of two 11-foot wide travel lanes (one eastbound, one westbound) bordered by variable 2- to 4-foot-wide paved shoulders. The existing guardrails will be removed and replaced. Riprap will be placed at both culvert openings for scour protection purposes. The roadside ditches along SR 42 will be regraded and lined with seeding and/or riprap.
