Central Avenue (SR 37) Improvement Project (DEL-SR37-10.79)
PID. NO. 120256
Delaware, Delaware County, Ohio
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The City of Delaware, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), is planning a project to improve Central Avenue [State Route 37 (SR 37)] between Foley Street and US Route 42 (Lake Street). This proposed project is separate from the SR 37 Corridor Planning Study recently announced by ODOT.
The proposed project will rebuild Central Avenue as a three-lane road with a sidewalk on the north side and a shared-use path on the south side. The project also includes upgrades at the Channing Street and Winter Street intersections, new street lighting, utility improvements, and bike lanes along Winter Street from Lake Street to Central Avenue. The proposed project will improve overall mobility and safety along SR 37 with the goal of improving bicycle and pedestrian access as well as improving pavement conditions. Construction is estimated to begin as early as summer 2028 and is expected to last one year.
An in-person open house public meeting is scheduled for November 13, 2025. You may submit questions or comments no later than December 13, 2025. Please see the materials included on this link for additional project information. The materials included on this link will also be available at the open house public meeting.
