Village of Hartville & Lake Local Schools School Travel Plan
 

The Village of Hartville and Lake Local Schools are working together to develop a School Travel Plan focused on improving the safety, accessibility, and connectivity of travel to and from Lake Local Schools.

The School Travel Plan brings together school officials, local government, families, students, and community members to identify opportunities to make walking, bicycling, school bus transportation, and vehicle travel safer and more efficient. The planning process builds on feedback previously gathered from parents, students, staff, and community members regarding school travel patterns and concerns.
 

Using this community input, the Village and Lake Local Schools are identifying and evaluating potential infrastructure improvements near school facilities and along key routes used by students and families. Proposed improvements may include pedestrian and bicycle facilities, crossings, traffic-calming measures, roadway improvements, signage, and other projects designed to address identified safety and connectivity needs.
 

Public involvement is a critical component of the School Travel Plan process. Residents, parents, students, school staff, and other community members will have opportunities to review proposed improvements, provide comments, identify additional considerations, and help ensure that the School Travel Plan reflects the needs of the Hartville community.
 

The completed School Travel Plan will provide the Village of Hartville and Lake Local Schools with a framework for pursuing future improvements, coordinating efforts, and identifying potential funding opportunities to support safer and more accessible school travel.
 

Project Goals

The School Travel Plan aims to:

• Improve safety for students and families traveling to and from school.

• Identify opportunities to improve walking and bicycling connections.

• Address infrastructure and traffic concerns identified through community feedback.

• Strengthen coordination between the Village, schools, and community.

• Develop practical improvement projects that can be implemented as funding opportunities become available.

• Create a long-term framework for continued improvements to school travel.

• Promote transportation choices that improve safety, mobility, and access for students and families.
