FULLERTON PIKE PHASE III Corridor IMPROVEMENT
DES. NO. 1802977
Monroe County, Indiana
Monroe County Board of Commissioners
Phase III corridor improvements (Des. No. 1802977) will reconstruct and extend Fullerton Pike on new and existing alignment from the intersection of Rockport Road and Fullerton Pike to the intersection of South Rogers Street and Gordon Pike. The typical roadway section from Rockport Road to Clearview Drive will consist of two 12-foot-wide travel lanes (one in each direction), with 4-foot-wide on-street bike lanes, separated by a 10- to 14-foot-wide raised grassed median, which transitions to a dedicated left turn lane at the intersections of Wickens Street and Falcon Drive. The typical roadway section east of Bachelor School will consist of four, 11-foot-wide travel lanes (two in each direction) with a 10-foot-wide raised median, as well as curb and gutters. Along the entire corridor, a 10-foot-wide multi-use path will be constructed north of the roadway and a 5-foot-wide sidewalk will be constructed south of the roadway.
TRAFFIC NOISE ANALYSIS
Based upon the noise analysis completed to date, the Monroe County Board of Commissioners has identified one location where there is a potential for noise abatement. Noise abatement at this location would consist of a 12-foot-tall noise barrier. Noise abatement at this location is based upon preliminary design costs and design criteria. A re-evaluation of the noise analysis will occur during final design. If during final design it has been determined that conditions have changed such that noise abatement is not feasible and reasonable, the abatement measures might not be provided.
